One month!!! 🎉✨
Since I’ve moved into my new place. 😄
Shall do a little home tour, one area at a time.
The very first light that greets me in my entryway - this hanging pendant lamp! I was adamant in buying it because... I made a similar structure for an art module in Uni, and got an A grade (one of my few rare As in uni lol....) so this has a nice memory for me la HAHAHA.
The only downside about buying such statement lamps is... make sure you have some handy long duster to help you clear the dust! 😂
To be honest my home is quite empty - as in we don’t have a lot of furniture. I still have a lot of bare space. In the past I was so excited to squeeze in tables / benches / decor items at every corner.. but I’ve since been taking a really slow approach hehe. There’s joy in decorating my space slowly.. after all I’m gonna be here for at least 5 years!!!
This black console table was actually an accidental buy from Ezbuy. I thought I was buying a round mirror...then this was delivered to my house 😂 So ok.. just use it. The look of this table changes very often.
Can you spy the Chanel camellia on top of my Jo Malone candle? Hahaha I need suggestions on how to better display it! (Random, but I saw someone selling the Christmas camellia for $90 on Carousell!!! Will anyone buy it?!!)
Side by side - with the full length mirror heh heh heh. Very useful for last minute ootd checks~ only thing is, this is still within the living room so I can’t wear shoes inside to check the whole outfit. LOL. First World Problems right? Maybe I could get a jute rug.
See what I mean? Go running also can #ootd check. HAHAAH.
Future CNY ootd checks all settled. I’m also gonna welcome my cny guests to take mirror selfies here. MAY MIRROR SELFIES RULE THE WORLD 😂
This photo was taken when it was just delivered. Till today we don’t have additional cushions or throws. I would love to have it to add texture and colours to the couch but A insists on minimalism... and doesn’t want many things to trap dust. So ok! Will see how it goes :p but generally guests are very happy also, for comfort, 3-4 can sit and play Overcooked. Otherwise we can easily squeeze more 6-8 people for group photos!!! 😂
My sofa is from Castlery! :)
Dimension:W260 x D90/167 x H84cm
= ALOT OF SPACE TO EVEN LIE DOWN ON hahaah.
Highly recommend Castlery sofas. My sofa is my most expensive piece of furniture, at about $1.2k :) For everything else, I really didn’t see the need to go for the really expensive designer stuff.
Previously also had a post on where to buy furniture: @wanderwithcher:041018
Fabric sofas are really really comfy and cooling! Personally I don’t like how ‘sticky’ PVC/leather couches can feel. And fabric sofas = homely vibes to me. At least that’s what I recall from seeing photos of many Scandi homes and European Airbnbs. Yes, there’s a valid concern about spills and dirt. But, so far so good. We vacuum it once in awhile, and we don’t eat or drink on the couch - at most it’s packet drinks. Besides, there’s a coffee table for that purpose! Bringing me to the next item:
We did have a close shave, our friend spilled Blackberry cider all over our vinyl floor right beside the couch HAHA but all’s good - no stains etc. Just be more mindful! :) Besides, many of the fabric covers are removable and washable. Send them to honestbee laundry or sth heheh.
My ‘illusion’ coffee table. I love it! 😂 I had the option of customising it in any colour, but decided to go for this almond colour instead. I would have picked white... but A says he’s scared of white already. The house is very white 😂
Criteria for coffee table:
Low height ✔️
Circular shape ✔️
If you can, go for one or two round pieces of furniture in the home to “break up” the harsh lines. Low height furniture also help to make ceilings appear taller. :)
(excuse all the plants at the back, they’re there for their weekly ‘sunshine bath’ 😆 shifting them back to their original locations soon)
Wall-Mounted TV; Eubiq track; IKEA TV Console and our PLANTS 🌿
It’s the snake plant and the Zanzibar gem (zz plant), they’re thriving 😄 I love these planter pots because they add a subtle pop of colour to the home. Apart from ‘cleaning the air,’ plants also double up as decor!
Very glad that I didn’t splurge on the Castlery marble dining table - this pretty set costs only about 20% of the Castlery table 😂
Close up of the Culti diffuser that I’ve finally unboxed. Culti is pricier but really good - the scent diffuses really well throughout my entire living room.
Shall end with the photo of my Eufy robot vacuum 😂
Trusty little helper, along with my Dyson V8! Wireless vacuums are really.. really life-changing.
That’s all for the tour of the living area. Really quite few things right 😂 We use the rest of the empty space to workout or practise yoga. I have a lot of empty wall space to practise holding my handstands too lol.
When I arrive home, I feel instantly calmer.
Sg is overcrowded enough, our minds and offices are cluttered enough - so home is really a place to just unwind and feel zen 😌😌😌
Maybe eventually I’ll add more things, but for now, thoroughly enjoying the space. 😊
Wardrobe tour in my next post? 🤓
