Finished Jenn’s cookies last night 😭 They’re so precious!! Next year I want to order 2!!
Kay likes them too and we were trying to hold back munching them or we would have finished them within the first day.
Yesterday was the 3rd death anniversary of our grandpa Mickey☹️ He left us right after the CNY festivities in 2016.. so every CNY reminds us of him.
I miss you grandpa Mickey:(
We still talk about you all the time. “Mickey used to do this/that”, “omg look it’s Mickey!!” whenever we see a silky terrier or yorkshire terrier out walking. You will always have a special special place in my heart, Mickey. ❤️ I hope you’re having fun wherever you are.
Thank you for always accompanying us for tuition, wait for us to finish tuition, and walk home with us after.. you always enjoyed your time outside playing with twigs and bringing them home. You liked making friends, both humans and animals. You were well loved by many in the estate. Love you Mickey!! 💕
Nithya Priyan School of Yoga 🧘♂️
Attended Stretch at Nithya Priyan School of Yoga yesterday.
Had actually booked an Aerial class somewhere else but Kay jio-ed me to this place so I was like yeah sure let’s try it a new studio!
It’s located at 235A South Bridge Road, within Chinatown. If you are familiar with Yoga + and Tirisula, this place wouldn’t be hard to locate ;)
A really homely place to be honest! You can tell the instructors and yogis all knew each other. And all the participants were SUPER EXCITED to attend class I kid you not!
This is the main communal table which also seats the receptionist. Right there in the background is the main studio. We were waiting for a class to end.
Locker area. All lockers were fully taken up by the people attending the previous class.
LET ME TELL YOU STUDIO WAS FULL AF!!
@crystalcastles wearing her contacts. Time for lasik lasik!!
Waiting for people to come out of class and the rest wanted to chiong in liao.
Kay attended Power & Alignment in this studio while mine (Stretch) was held in the attic above.
It was sooo crowded but a good testament to how well loved this place is.
My class was by a Japanese instructor, Yuko, who was very nice, cheery and super helpful.
In the beginning of class, she shared and discussed about how stretching would help us ease the muscles especially after a tough workout. And how it’s different from Yin Yoga. I definitely needed a good stretch. Longggg time since I went for a hard core stretch class.
The attic is much smaller than the main studio (pictured above) but could still fit 15 attendees + 1 instructor. A little squeezy but less claustrophobic than I thought.
Full attendance y’all!!!!! And I thoroughly enjoyed class!!
Needless to say, I’m definitely going back for more. In fact, I have 2 classes booked at NP for this week hehehehe.😚
Only problem is the attic isn’t closed and has no door so you can hear people coming out from the class below.. and it can get quite distracting but as long as you stay focused in your practice, you probably can’t hear them at all honestly😊
Best of all, class was only 4 credits!!! Super affordable gahhhh!! Out of all the 3 yoga studios in Chinatown that I’ve attended (Tirisula, Yoga+ and Nithya Priyan), this is the most affordable.
Tirisula comes really close coz classes are at 5 credits for first 3 classes and then become 6 credits.
Tirisula Yoga 🧘🏻♀️
This was my very first studio I went to after signing up Classplass.. on my birthday in December.
Big thank you to the sister @crystalcastles for dragging me out so I could stop 宅-ing at home.
One of my fav places of all time~
I really like Tirisula and I finally understood the appeal of smaller boutique studios, having now been to big studios (True Yoga) and a few smaller ones via Classpass.
Tirisula is a place I found myself visiting several times. It kinda feels like home to me. I don’t feel foreign there at all even when I’m a noob?
The teachers remember me by name. I’m not just one of the attendees. I’m their student.
And they really try their best to customise and help my body 😭😭
On 7th of Feb, I went to Tirisula but it was closed even though I managed to book a class?!? LOL!! Some issues there but I wasn’t even angry or anything.
Then I went to Yoga Core by Ying at Tirisula on the 9th of Feb, which was just 2 days ago. It was my second class by Ying!
Second time meeting Ying and she called me by my name 😭 Gan dong. 感动流泪!
There were only 2 attendees in class and so we had a lot of attention from Ying. I was for sure dying cos I hadn’t attended an intense class for quite a while.. actually have I gone for one?!?
Let me tell you I can still feel my body aching till today. It’s been 4 days!!! My core.. milord... my abs definitely coming out HAHA. My entire abdomen region + ribs hurt like they got punched?!?
When class ended, she said we had extra time (seeing there was no back to back classes after ours), so she asked we wanted to try headstand and I was like ?!?!?? Dude I’m barely even breathing after the core workout?!?!?
I’ve had friends telling me they don’t feel anything during or after yoga practice.. and I’m quite sure they didn’t do it right or engage the right muscles cos if you did, you would DEFINITELY feel something!
Teacher asked if we did a headstand before.. yknow I actually did a handstand last time during cheerleading 的时候?!!?! Not even headstand hor is handstand HAHAHA.
IDK HOW I DID IT LAST TIME HONESTLY?!!??? But it was against the wall. Still!!!!!!! Somemore last time we just anyhow flip and kick up one LOLOL.
I was definitely not ready for a headstand cos my arms were shivering from the workout and I knew my body couldn’t take anything strenuous anymore..
But I just decided to try the headstand tuck. Because IF NOT NOW THEN WHEN RIGHT!!
With guidance from Ying, I held a headstand tuck (against the wall) and I was trying to hard not to crumble and toh. The key to this is to push through your elbows and it works!!!
Waiting for my body to be ready so my legs can go straight up ☺️
I’m seriously thankful for the instructors at Tirisula for pushing and motivating me to explore what I never thought my body could do with my current condition. My bones feel like they can break anytime cos of my scoliosis..
My lower back is tensed af and it gives me a lot of encouragement knowing my body is improving day by day. 💪🏻
Tbh I felt like shit after class that day cos the lady beside me was much flexible and stronger than I was.. you know sometimes I wish I just had NORMAL body!? Like a normal female? Females are usually born slightly flexible. I’ve had friends who could go into splits or forward fold within months. Something that takes people months can take me YEARS. 😢😢
Ying told me indeed I’m quite 硬 (hard aka inflexible) which is kinda weird and I was like ya :’((((( but she told me it would definitely be better with more practice. I know it can be so I just need to keep pushing myself and not give up & not be defeated when I see people doing certain poses so easily.
She was like “I remember last time during forward fold you couldn’t touch your toes. Today you could!” Actually she assisted me and helped to pull me one!!
This is the seated forward fold. The ultimate end goal is to be able to have your chest reach your knees. But I was at like pose 1 on the left?!! HAHAHA. And I really couldn’t go lower.
But with some help by Ying, I managed to get to the pose on the right, grabbing my toes...
And yesterday at NP (Nithya Priyan)... I could do a little bit of pose 2 (middle), touching my soles already!!!🙏🏻
Trium Fitness offers different classes and aerial is one of them!
Idk why and what gave me the guts to try aerial by myself one day. HAHAH. I think it’s better to go with a friend so y’all can be scared together?!!?
Those who are quite pro and flexible will definitely spots all the wrongs in the photo and how back bend can be improved.
Kinda missing aerial after looking at these photos!
I’ve been to Trium Fitness twice, both for aerial classes and I really quite like it. The pace is A LITTLE fast and if you can’t catch up, it could be quite demoralised but I feel like I learnt more there than at Upside Motion??
Class here isn’t too expensive. Only 6-7 credits! Upside motion is like 11 or 12 credits. Double the price $$$$$
Upside Motion City Hall & Shenton Way🤸🏻♀️
Upside Motion definitely belongs to the atas range of studios in Sg. But the price also atas la hahaha.
I learnt more inversion poses at Trium than Upside. But I guess the good thing is you do get a lot of attention from the teacher!
This was considered easy after being to Trium.
The aerial class I attended was small (5 people, compared to like 20 at Trium) so the instructor could adjust everyone one by one.
Still a nice studio to visit but only if you feeling rich.. maybe when I earn more than my previous salary then I’ll visit here more often.
I also attended Barre class at Upside Motion (City Hall branch) but prefer Shenton Way cos it’s much bigger!!
WeBarre at Dhoby Ghaut💃🏻
Another atas studio 🤣 not cheap too!
I feel like barre is quite in trend now so it’s quite costly so maybe the price will drop if more studios start to offer it. It sells on the idea of having a ballerina body and poise..
Honestly I’m fucking unglam and not elegant at all HAHAHHA.
But Barre does help me to do lots of abs workout, lunges (which I fucking hate) and work on my booty & strength.
Love hate relationship with barre cos I always feel like death during class but walk feeling like WOAH MY BODY GONNA BE CHIO AF.
I’m on #classpass and I would definitely recommend y’all to use ClassPass if you’re thinking of starting your fitness journey but am unsure what is suitable for you and what kind of exercise you actually like. There are lots of selection like boxing, yoga, aerial, spinning, cycling, barre, etc. Really A LOT. Can even book gyms too!
Thanks to Classpass, I got to try different studios and find out the stuff that I really like (yoga, aerial and barre HAHAHAHA I’m a basic bitch).
You can sign up here
💕http://bit.ly/classpasskel 💕 for $40 off!!!
I’ll get $88 off if you sign up using my link. :)
Some of you have messaged me or spoken to me IRL about attending classes with me or needing a buddy.. I ALSO NEED A BUDDY HAHAHA. Most of the time, I go for yoga classes alone. I don’t mind if y’all join me for class if you feel like you need someone to be there and it makes you feel more calm.
But if you happen to bump into me in class, please please please do not stare at me ok:((((( i feel uncomfortable if people stare and talk about me.
I’m okay if you come up to say hi! Or photos are fine (but help me mtxx if I look like shit after class). But don’t stand there and whisper whisper ok. 😅😊
Usually I attend classes in the morning or daytime cos I’m not working 😅
The $59 plan has 25 credits and it allows you to book like 6 classes if you go for classes that are at 4 credits!
I’m on the $99 plan and have attended 9 classes this month so far and have got 2 upcoming classes (I got free 10 credits cos I reactivated my account). I could have gone for more actually if I didn’t attend Upside Motion & WeBarre! So the above picture is just a guide and is probably true if you only go for expensive classes like 11-16 credits that kind.
It is cheaper than an unlimited gym membership. And you have to work within the available credits. But to be honest, do you fully utilise your unlimited membership!? I know of people who signed up for $120-$200+ memberships but never even go wtf?!!??
The money can donate to me not???
During your Classpass journey, you may find some studios that you really like and sign up a package with them which you confirm chop will utilise then that’s good for you!
Also, there’s a Classpass telegram group which my sister started with a friend WTF and has 1400++ members who share good deals & promotions that various studios are offering!
On the way to the temple. Accompanying my Dad and sis cos they both 犯太岁.
