Bright & Bold 🌈

Happy Friyay to all you lovelies! Today, we’re all about wearing bright colours stylishly to go with the upcoming festive mood for Chinese New Year.

Bright colours, especially red like this piece as seen on @/jessicachaw is traditionally considered to be an auspicious colour for Chinese New Year! We have rounded up some of #thestagewalk apparels that you may want to consider for the celebrations.

Red-dy to Go!

We know we know, incorporating red into your outfit is no easy feat. Unlike black, this fiery shade doesn't go with everything and when you wear it, people will stare. And makes you feel like a walking red packet. But there’re ways to get around this!

The most important thing is to choose a red which suits and enhances your skin tone. Just just like picking the right red lipstick! Dark shades of red contrast well with light skin tones, while light shades pop against darker skin.

Thereafter, it is easy to match the complexion with a shade of red. Blue-based reds like berry, burgundy, and crimson pair well with cool undertones while warm undertones work best with orange tinted reds like cinnamon, copper, and vermilion.

Choose a piece that’s made of a structured fabric with a simple cut. Just imagine you’re wearing a classic LBD but in red instead.

Our Helena Two Way Bow Dress is the perfect choice! Featureing an undetachable faux bow details at the back, you can choose it to wear with the bow infront too.

Alternatively, versatile separates do the trick! Select a two piece outfit (pants & top, or skirt and top) and have one of the pieces to be in red and the other to be a neutral colour! You won’t be self-conscious of the full-on red yet will still manage to look festive!

Similarly, a pretty floral skirt like this looks great with a neutral-coloured top or blouse 😍 Wearing Red isn’t so difficult, right!

In the Pink of Health

Pink is also a very relevant colour for Chinese New Year. Those afraid of wearing red for Chinese New Year can go for pink as it’s perceived as more youthful!

Similarly for those who find pink an overwhelming colour to wear, consider breaking it up in your outfit.

An easy way to add pink into your office or evening out look is to wear a feminine ruffled skirt like this. It doesn’t look as harsh as a usual black office skirt but still looks professional.

Pair with black if you want to keep your outfit from looking too girly while Navy makes a great match too. If not, consider pretty pastels to match for maximum colourblock impact or fresh whites are perfect for summer nights out.

Pink lifts up the look and creates a romantic and happy vibe. Definitely the perfect balance of youthful with an edge of elegance.

Pair with nude, white or black accessories and you’re all set to go. Beyond CNY, pink works for a date out too 💕

Purple Does It

There are many different shades of purple, so deciding what will look best is largely dependent on the intensity and hue plus your personal preference!

If you are in the mood to wear a bright shade of purple, then you should consider dark accessories or a black coat to go along. A black skirt / trouser with a light purple top will make you look like royalty. Dark purple, on the other hand, should be teamed with light neutral colors like beige, cream and off-white.

What to pair with Deep Purple? One of the most subdued and easy-to-wear shades of purple, we love how it looks paired with Black, Navy, White and Deep Wine colors.

Another colour you might consider is Yellow! Look sophisticated by matching with Black or Metallic accessories as well.

If you’re looking at Lilac, White, Grey and similar pastel shades work well together!

Jeans paired with purple? Classic. Keep everything else to neutrals and you’re set to style success.

Easy does it when you choose a one piece. Pick this dress and let the prints do the talking 💜

Still not too sure about this shade? Simply add a jolt of purple via accessories. Let the purple geometric details of the necklace jazz up your outfit!

Blue Them Away

Nothing says spring more than pastels! Pale yet captivating, Powder Blue is a refreshing take on signature pastels.

Feminine and ethereal, pair this tranquil shade with neutrals! Fret not as the darker shades like black, gray and chocolate brown can easily be your go-tos. Silver is a refreshing choice too!

Go for colourblock! Pair the shade with Coral where the punchy bright hue makes for an unexpected pairing. Or create a dreamy colour palette with Powder Pink.
