The flowers are gone; they've been pollinated and replaced by these tiny apple sproutlings. From now until late August-early September, hundreds of these little sprouts growing on our three apple trees will be tasked with sucking up as much water & nutrients as possible to form delicious green apples. Can't wait to watch them grow! #whatsinmybackyard
For the last 3-4 years, we have been bringing home the palm fronds from the Palm Sunday service, and keeping them in a pair of empty vases in the living room all year round until the next Palm Sunday, when we toss the old ones and replace them with new ones. How did we start this tradition? Honestly, laziness. I brought home my palm frond one year and it seemed wasteful to throw it away, so I stuck it in a vase "temporarily" and forgot to get rid of it for a year. Thus, a new tradition was born!
I'm soooo late to podcasts, especially Welcome to Night Vale (all my nerd friends were obsessed in Uni), but now I'm hooked! It's so bizarre and off the cuff, but narrated in such a measured and straight-faced manner. The lines are funny enough, but really it's subtle changes in the narrator's tone that give the podcast a new level of hilarity and quirkiness, which is interesting because to me, the narrator doesn't have a particularly "unique" voice ot way of speaking, he's just good at his job.
