Easy DIYs under an hour โฐ

Hello everybody! The weekends are finallyyyyy here and it's time for all of us to unwind & recharge ๐Ÿ’†๐Ÿป

Did you pack your weekends full of plans? If you're intending to just take it slow, here are some easy & useful projects that I have sourced through Dayre that you can take up! ๐Ÿ‘Œ๐Ÿผ Trust me, I think you will find some of these coming in handy ๐Ÿ˜‰

Let's get started!

Candle Jar > Makeup Holder ๐Ÿ—„

Recently, Mei Ting shared with us on her Dayre (@lianmeiting:170417) a little DIY/life hack on how to recycle used candle jars! She cleared out her almost empty candle jar and made it into a makeup holder for all her liquid lipsticks ๐Ÿ’„

Fastest way to remove the candle stuck at the bottom of the jar:

1: Pour boiling water into the candle holder all the till it reaches almost to the top

2: Watch as the wax melts and floats to the top (like in the above picture!)

3: Wait 1 hour for the water to cool & the wax will turn semi hard at the top of the jar.

4: Pour the contents away, scrape any remaining wax off, use a paper towel to wipe the inner glass and rinse with warm water + soap!

What you'll be left with is a clean candle jar that you can use to store anything โœŒ๐Ÿผ

Re-organise your beauty drawers ๐Ÿ’‹๐Ÿ’…๐Ÿผ

@flrncx gave us a peek into her makeup stash, and first of all, can we just take a moment to admire this collection of lipsticks? So extensive and so beautiful! ๐Ÿ˜ป What impressed us too was how all her lipsticks were slanted, which makes it the perfect way to have a good view of your make up in the morning without having to rummage through all of it ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿผ Thankfully, she showed us how she did it! (@flrncx:150417)

All you will need are corrugated boards & a pen knife!

First, measure the width of your drawers and cut the length out. Then, fold the board accordingly to the height that you want. It’s really up to you to choose how lifted you want these slants to be, and how many lipsticks you want to fit into the drawer!

Last step is to slot it into the drawer, then stick a tape below to secure it, and you’re done! ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿผ Such an easy and functional DIY for those of us with too much makeup that needs to be organized ๐Ÿค—

DIY Shrink Plastic Pins ๐Ÿ–‡

For the #dayrebrides out there, @heyhappypuff shared this really cute DIY project that we can’t resist not sharing! โ˜บ๏ธ (@heyhappypuff:170417) As a sweet and possibly hilarious way for your guests to show off which team they’re on (and perhaps be a good icebreaker of some sorts), you can make your own Shrink Plastic Pins that guests can pin onto their outfits!

What you need:
โ–ช๏ธShrink Plastic Pins can be bought from Art Friend. If you’re making this into a pin badge, get the white plastic (instead of transparent) so that the pin at the back wouldn’t be seen!
โ–ช๏ธ Markers & Colour Pencils
โ–ช๏ธ Glue Gun
โ–ช๏ธ Pins (which can be bought from Art Friend)

This is where you let your creativity juices flow! ๐Ÿ’ญ Choose a font that you adore & trace it onto the plastic sheet using your markers.

โญ๏ธ Do take note that plastic sheets shrink about 3 times after heating. So make the size of the designs larger than how you would want them to appear on the badge ๐Ÿ˜Œ

Next, place your plastic sheets in the microwave or oven. The temperature should be kept at ~120 degrees, but regular monitoring is required! Also, use the grill instead of an oven tray for even heating ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿผ

Last step: Glue a pin to the back, and you're done! ๐ŸŽ‰

DIY Personalized Name Bag ๐Ÿ’ผ

Last but not least, @tofulove DIY-ed a belated gift for @jazreeltan by painting her name on the bag to give it that extra personal touch, and we found that it actually doesn’t take up a lot of time to do!
What you need:
โ–ช๏ธDrawstring bags of any size
โ–ช๏ธAcrylic/Fabric Paint
โ–ช๏ธ Paint Brush (preferably size 0)
โ–ช๏ธPencil & Eraser

Directions:
1. Trace any writings of your choice faintly on the bag with a pencil
2. Squeeze paint onto a palette & dip your brush a little bit at a time!
3. Do one layer of trace over first & wait for the paint to dry. Fill up the thick strokes or any gaps by adding more layers.
4. Leave it to dry for ~15 mins to prevent any smudges
5. Erase any pencil marks/wash it off!

That's all you need to do! Time to get creative with your styles & I'm sure your friends will appreciate the effort you put in โ›„๏ธ

Give us a โค๏ธ if you like this list of DIY projects, and tell us in the comments section if you would like to see more!

Enjoy your weekends and we'll catch up more next week ๐Ÿ˜‰

Yours socially,
Kai Li
