Love red. And there are some classics like Bobbi Brown Old Hollywood, Chanel Pirate, Revlon Cherries In The Snow, MAC Ruby Woo and Russian Red, etc.
Today I'll list 12 with different tones and textures! I haven't finished editing and uploading all the pics so pardon a long gap between 1st and 2nd half of the post today cos I'll need to finish it up later tonight when I get home.
Many of these I haven't mentioned much before.
I have the whole list of brands and shades on Instagram today!
The first shade I'll mention is #Revlon Super Lustrous Matte in 004 Retro Red.
They have a darker red called Really Red which is often considered a dupe for MAC Russian Red, and is very popular. This was recently launched here and is a truer red shade with less of that liver-brown tone in Really Red. I'd say it's like a deeper version of MAC Ruby Woo which I love.
Texture is also creamier than the original Revlon Matte formula so I LOVE it. If you like a deep matte red go try this one.
Swinging all the way to the sheerer lighter side is NYX Butter Gloss in Cherry Pie.
This is the type of red that looks scarlet in the tube but sheers out to a juicy pink-toned tint that is very flattering.
If you are not into red or not sure about wearing something too strong, then this is the sort of "baby red" for you.
Plus it feels smooth and non-sticky, smells delicious, and easy on the wallet.
Another one some of you wanted a review for; #Guerlain's revamped Kiss Kiss range. I swatched most of the shades at the event and there are a number of gorgeous reds but this is one of the softer and brighter ones.
325 Rouge Kiss has a coral (pink-peach) undertone when applied though it looks like an orangey red in the tube. Like most of the range it is semi-sheer. You need to go over your lips a few times to get intense color (except for a few of the shades).
But it does build up beautifully.
Guerlain's Kiss Kiss range is creamy but I won't call it pigmented. Most shades are quite glossy and semi-sheer.
You will enjoy this if you like Lancome l'Absolue Rouges, last year's Shu limited edition reds, or Rouge Dior textures.
Ahhh Rouge Muse. I got this really cheap at a Loreal sale once. I dunno why people always pass it over but it's a gorgeous warm red. (For some reason it's looking cooler on screen.)
The thing about the stronger colored Rouge Voluptes is how pigmented they are.
When they just launched I thought they'd be the sheer counterpart to the Rouge Pur Coutures but they are not. Most are just as pigmented (unless u buy the Shine or Candy versions which are sheer).
And they're so slick and smooth.
Another recent fave is a gloss that is more pigmented than the average.
Laura Mercier's Poppy Lip Glacé is a deep red. What I love doing with it is wearing a nude lip color all over and then this just in the center.
It's also perfect for intensifying red lipsticks cos it adds more pigment and a lacquered shine. There are more pigmented glosses but I feel those look too heavy and thick for real life when layered over lipstick.
A mid pigmentation one like this is better for red-on-red layering.
And here's where I take a pause cos I haven't finished taking and uploading pics of the remaining shades yet haha.
Cya guys later tonight! Got a Neal's Yard event after work so it's gonna be night time when I get the remaining lip swatches done.
(Off-topic though it's red) Hurhur... Guess what I found at the Suntec Yankee store? Off-season candles that I've not seen at the other boutiques, including this Celebrate Christmas candle.
And candles are a bit like wine and soaps. They get stronger and perform better when they've had time to sit awhile, so this should be a good one.
Having a late dinner so it's gonna be awhile before I get back. It looks like I might have to complete part 2 of my red lip color post tomorrow! 😣
