Quick heads-up to kick off the weekend!
Tomorrow is Sephora Lipstick Day and if you post an INSTAGRAM picture (tomorrow) of yourself wearing your fave lipstick (just a shot of your lips will do) and tag @sephorasg #sephoralipstickday, they will DM 300 people with a special redemption image and you can go down to the Ngee Ann City branch to claim a lip makeover and mini lipstick free.
Make sure your profile is set to public so they can see your post tho!
I do want to spotlight their $19 Sephora Collection Cream Lip Stains cos I've recommended these to a number of liquid lip lovers already, but never properly featured.
These are quite underrated. They are really good and very affordable. No cracking or looking super dry and wrinkly. The shade range is also very nice and goes from neutrals to brights to darks.
There are 3 that I find myself wearing more.
#13 is a creamy warm neutral that is great for everyday. Not too brown after drying.
#17 is a deep muted oxblood red with slightly plummy grey undertones.
The thing to note about this Lip Stain formula is instead of going 3-4 shades darker after drying, like most brands, they go a cooler toned. So a brown red becomes a plummy liver red. A peachy beige becomes a slightly more taupe beige. Just something to bear in mind and definitely suggest you test them in store and not buy after looking straight from the tube.
#38 is a rich magenta purple tone that I like for fun days.
But there are so many shades that you just have to explore for yourself. I do personally find these much more comfy than a lot of other cheaper liquid lips like Australis etc and also more moist feeling than Kat von D's.
And they are a smaller tube but affordable so you can try 2 shades for the price of one higher end one anyway.
I've only found maybe 1-2 of the dark shades little less easy to use. (Need to build up and even out.)
Speaking of lips, I have been playing around with these Maybelline Color Jolts as well.
And if you followed my IG story a few days ago, I ended up liking the Shinies because they set to this interesting shiny gel and then transfer minimally. So it's like a long wear liquid lipstick that looks like full coverage glossy lacquer. Super weird in a cool way.
I know some people had trouble finding these. They are already out at larger Guardians in separate displays.
Watsons is a bit slower but they are coming out slowly now.
One thing to note is the Guardian stores were selling it at $7.90 intro price. So you might want to hold off if your store doesn't have that offer. The standard price is $9.90.
I am also very enamored by all their Mattes. Powder Mattes, Mattes, even Loaded Bolds which are not technicaly matte but look and feel sort of matte.
I feel like I'm just picking up 1-2 every few wks and it's insane. But the colors and formulas are just great.
I mean - urgh.
This is Matte in Rich Ruby (top) and Loaded Bold in Dynamite Red. I always find I grab the rich reds and vibrant pinks in their lines cos there is so much color impact.
