Managed to steal some time to visit Montana the other day with Mr Tan. ☺️
Our second visit here! We came when it first launched last year. This time was for their revamped menu and the new location that they have shifted!
Still at PoMo but on level 2!😊 Way more spacious than the previous one.👌🏻
We had wanted to try the Jalapena mac&cheese waffle again! We had it when we came last time. So yummy~ That truffle taste was really outstanding!
We have tried the southern fried chicken as well. 👌🏻👍🏻
So out host recommended us to try their 2 other new savoury waffles, Assam crab waffles and bulgogi beef waffles!
Had wanted to try the seafood paella one too! So interesting right? Haha! But I thought I want to try a pasta dish as well. 😁
Montana have this interesting coconut cold brew that you should try!
You're a fan of cold brew.😁
I think cold brew is an acquired taste? Tbh, I'm not a big fan. 😞
But I'll still give it a try!
Haha! This is the gula Melaka cold brew and the yuzu cold brew.
I prefer the gula Melaka one which was less acidic, yuzu one was so acidic. I cannot. 😬
Well, mr tan took a small sip of both and... His facial expression was epic. 😆
Like this -> 😖
Try it if you have cold brew! If not gula melaka one would be milder on the acidic. ☺️👌🏻
Our food. 😁
If I'm not wrong, Montana is the first if not one of the first few to come up with savory waffles in Singapore.
Assam crab waffles, $18.
Very generous on the crab meat served! We also like the Assam gula Melaka mayo dip which was served at the side.
You can see that it looks a bit dry, so the dip helped a lot and gave extra flavour!😋👍🏻
bulgogi beef waffles, $16.
This was our fav among the 2! I think because the flavour was more outstanding!
After we ate this, the Assam crab waffles became as tasteless. 😂 that's when the mayo dip came handy!😁
We love the bulgogi beeeffff~ and the kimchi coleslaw!👌🏻
These weren't filling at all. at least for mr tan and I. 😁 because the waffles are not the very thick and dense type. It's actually quite soft and thin. So how can it be filling?😂
Spicy bacon pasta, $14.
For those who are not adventurous enough to try their signature savoury waffles.
This pasta actually comes in 4 spicy levels. This was only level 2! (Must cater to mr tan. 😂)
Just level 2 and I could feel the kick. 👍🏻💪🏻
Wish I could try to level 4 one!! 😍
Haha! If you like your chilli, come and try the level 4 spicy pasta!! Tell me if you survived?😂
Dessert time. ☺️
Black velve waffles with green tea ice cream and black miso caramel. $14.
Not cheap yo. 😳
But it was a good combination on a plate!
I especially like the black miso caramel! The savoury taste helped to balance the sweetness from the waffles and ice cream. 😌👌🏻
If you want an all black version, order the black sesame ice cream instead of green tea!
The plate size is too big or what?
Found this hidden within Montana! It's actually their sister concept as well. Still in the soft launch. 😊
Since I'm here, I thought I'll try one too!😁
You can either choose from the menu or make your own one!
I didn't make my own, I had the green tea! 😁
$5.50 per piece.
Frankly, the entire donut was..
Green tea glaze was sweet. Then you have another yuzu white chocolate cream. 😂
Mr Tan had a bite and that was it. Too sweet for him. 😂
Hopefully sweetness level can be reduced? Otherwise I think the donut itself was very nice! It was served slightly warm and so soft!!!😍
maybe they can sell the original one? Without the glaze? Haha!
吃不饱 part 1.
吃不饱 part 2.
Hahaha! And I had an ice cream. Lol!
I wasn't hungry lah, just didn't feel satisfied. 😳
Btw, it goreng pisang, mung bean glutinous ball and hum ji peng. Fritters are my favvvv~
Btw, this was my first time eating goreng pisang?
Haha! I don't like banana. I haven't eaten a banana in the fruit form for... Years.
But I love banana cake~
Weird. I know. 🤗
Still prefer dough culture and old chang kee's version!
Ok. I'm off to the kitchen~ 😁
Lunch situation earlier on. 😁
After I told everyone what I wanted to do, everyone played a role in the making of lunch!😊
Mummy and bro in charge of the kitchen inside.
Meow meow laying the food outside. 😁
Daddy was busy painting the house. Getting ready for CNY!😁🎊
Lunch part 1. 😁
Stir fried garlic prawns.
Braised meat in ginger and sesame oil.
Big big plate of tau gay!😁
Yam and sweet potato nian gao!
Slightly healthier because we use less oil than outside! Pan fried instead of deep fried.😌
I think I ate too much of this. 😬
Thanks to Old Seng Chong for sending sending me this yummy goodies!😋
The yam kueh was our fav!!
Can't compare to homemade ones certainly. But this is indeed the best yam kueh I've tried.
Carrot kueh was too soft I feel. 😅
The red dates cake, 红枣糕 was so yummy! Love it!! Like 年糕 just that it has the taste of red dates! So good~
The nian gao not overly sweet too! Niceeee~
I never like those nian gao that you see everywhere during CNY. It's like packed with sugar lah. 😖
I saw the ingredients list for the kueh by old seng choong. Happy to see that it's not normal white sugar being used, they use brown sugar!👌🏻
Mummy cooked 6 cups of rice for 6 of us. 😱
But the best is.
We finished the 6 cups of rice.
Haha! Pretty amazed that my rice cooker can cook 6 cups of rice? 😂
Most irritating person on earth. ❌🚫💢
Anyway, now you know why everyone was in the kitchen today?😂
But it was fun session surely! Wish we could have more of such time. :') wish daddy and mummy spend more time at home and wish that I'm able to spend more time with them as well.
The sun was so hot today and I'm so upset to see my dad working under the scorching hot temperature. 😩 he can choose not to of course. But he didnt. Only because he wants to make the house an even better place for us to live in.
I can never do enough to repay my parents. 😭
That brings me to a topic about parenting.
I think upbringing is very important. Not say that my parents are the best. But they have tried their best to nurture my bro and I into decent young adults.
I've been thinking a lot of parenting these days. 😅 is it too early to think of it? Haha!
I haven been thinking how I want to raise my child. I hope I can do a good job like my parents did.
Teach and not pamper.
Firm and not fierce.
A parent and a friend as well.
Cooked sweet potato porridge tonight! 😁
So so so comforting!! 😌
Notice the 2 bottles of pickles at the side? My faves~😋
Because of these 2 bottles of pickles, the bro started his non-stopping talking about how when we were younger, we will always eat pickles with porridge!
That's when he developed his fear/dislike for porridge too. Hahaha!😆
We had a long long dinner, talking and joking about our childhoods together with daddy. :')
really need more of this type of dinner together. 👨👩👧👦
We were so happily talking about the past that we randomly called our grandparents who are overseas. Haha!😂
Our desserts to share. 😂
Steam red bean jollipancake and mung bean glutinous balls from old Chang Kee. 😋
