Stop being a creeper mumsy! 🕵️♀️ Day 2 post-op but I’m still a little cautious. Remember how I said I was under temporary house arrest? I did partially lift it to have dinner last night because she’s back to semi regular eating & pooping. I did reconsider for a minute though because of a post I saw on FB. A fellow bunfriend underwent a spay on Monday and sadly did not recover and passed away yesterday. They suspect an embolism in the large intestines.
The surgery was a success! And Truffles is well on her way to recovery! #grateful I’m kind of under semi house-arrest, to monitor her feeding & pooping. Hence the time for knitting. Bunnies are prone to gut stasis because they’ve got a very delicate GI system. In short, they feed on predominantly hay with a small percentage of pellets & fresh veggies daily. Treats are limited to a very small amount but... it depends on how cute she is on that day! 😂
It’s Truffles’ big day (take 2)! Her first one in January didn’t go ahead because she had a reaction to the anesthesia. Her heart rate slowed down too much for the vet to continue. She had a pseudo pregnancy episode a few weeks before and they think her hormones haven’t leveled out. Maybe causing her to stress out. Anyways! Fast forward 3 months and here we are!
Heart is extremely full atm. We’ve reached $440 of the $500 goal I set. Combined with the donation tin at work I think we might be very close to our final goal. What has surprised me most is actually the generosity and kindness of strangers. Not to say I’m not grateful for my friends & family but wow. The fact that someone who has never met me would be willing to part with their hard earned money.
Truffles was supposed to get desexed today but the surgery didn’t go through. Everything was okay during the initial examination but when they started her meds she reacted ‘abnormally’ as the vet put it. Her heart rate slowed right down so they had to pause the procedure and call me. They asked if I wanted to proceed but there would be increased risks etc. if not, they recommend waiting at least a month before reviewing her suitability again.
