NZ North Islands πŸ’œπŸ’™β€οΈ

HAD A BALL OF FUN IN NZ’S NORTH ISLAND πŸ’ƒπŸ»

I did lose my Dayre mojo streak a bit in the new year; having found Ig Story my preferred mode of updates when I’m on a holiday — I feel like I am still keeping tabs of my holiday without the commitment to write long lengthy posts πŸ™ˆ

Super excited for the new year because I started the year first with a trip to Sydney followed very closely by our NZ North Island holiday! Also our first non-wedding related holidays 🀣

First things first (cos shopping always comes first hahahahaha), I really like this #lovebonito dress so if any of you plan to sell your dress in Size S, would you kindly let me know? πŸ™πŸ»

Must not let hubby find out wtf, cos as it is my shopping lately has been completely out of control then now Dayre also asking if people can sell me clothes wtf πŸ™ˆ #dayreshopping

I had a few people asking me why not just visit the South Islands, the more scenic of the two and then someone mentioned that the North Islands is relatively bland and meh compared to its South counterpart — Which was exactly what I thought as well but let me show you how beautiful the North Islands can be ❀️ #dayretravel

Why North Islands?

The more obvious reason that we decided to not return to South Island (so soon) is that we were there slightly over a year ago and we both have a strong sense of wanderlust and love exploring new places.

The other reason is that my family may be visiting us at the end of the year and we are planning a family holiday to the South Islands then.

I was also planning to fly to NZ right after my night shift (It was cray guys, I think I was up for over 28 hours that day 😱) and the timing of the flight to Auckland worked out the best (We only have 4 days off together so every few hours count to milk the best of our days off πŸ€ͺ).

I planned the flights in such a seamless manner (I am still working in rural land so I actually have to finish my night shift, catch a domestic flight back to Brisbane to connect to Auckland πŸ˜…) until this came..

Rude shock 😱😱

We stopped over at a neighborhood mall for some lunch after I got to Brisbane before making way to the international airport and I was actually in the Sheike dressing room when hubby texted me to update me on our flight cancellation 😱

I got quite panicky and very nearly ran out from the dressing room to find him (Fully clothed thankfully wtff).

We spent some time on the hotline and the first flight they could put us back on was the following morning but due to the time difference, we would only be arriving Auckland after 3pm which means we practically lose a whole day (That’s 25% of the trip πŸ˜…).

Fortunately with further negotiations, they managed to find us seats on a flight 30 minutes earlier than our original — We were like ‘TAKING IT’ and ran to the car to make way for the airport πŸ™ŒπŸ»πŸ™ŒπŸ»πŸ™ŒπŸ»

This is a heavily filtered photo (I think I had been awake for close to 24 hours by then) of a thankful Jing who was waiting to board our flight πŸ™πŸ»πŸ™πŸ»

By that time, I could only think of finally sleeping on the plane πŸ™ˆ

And we are here!!!!!

By the time we picked up our car, it was already past midnight but we were just so thankful that things worked out and we arrived safe & sound πŸ™πŸ»

Quite happy with our choice of hotel — I am quite particular with our accommodation so hubby always leave me in charge of it, as if I’m okay with it he will be too!

I take my job of hotel hunting very seriously and can spend days browsing on the web wan πŸ™ˆ

Pretty washrooms are a soft spot of mine πŸ™ˆπŸ™ˆ #dayrehomes

Our hotel is TOTES cute with many details all over! ❀️❀️

On to some North Island Highlights β€οΈπŸ’™πŸ’œ

Omg guys I’m so sorry, I managed to squeeze in this holiday cos I’m on a set of nights and had been busy completing what is potentially my last set of nights.. LIKE EVER 😱

So let me try & finish this post okay πŸ™ˆπŸ™ˆ

Our first day was MAD exhausting cos I don’t know why I decided to PACK our day with long drives after knowing I will be up all day after my night shift — We both didn’t get to bed till 3am so hubby was not in his best form too πŸ™ˆ

We officially kicked off our trip 3 hours down south and we both brightened up after we saw this amazing view 😻

It was really quite a sight, to see the almost turquoise water against the beautiful blue skies 😻

I do have a confession:

I LOVE planning my trips and I usually have a very thorough itinerary on all the sights, restaurants, cafes that I plan on going (I do the planning, hubby does the practical things like logistics etc 🀣).

But having just returned from Sydney and then straight to nights, I really made very little plans this trip and we were really just YOLO-ing away.

I do plan my outfits usually as well (I even draw little pictures to remind myself cos I’m a visual person like that πŸ˜‚) but I didn’t have time this time around so I literally just chucked the first 12 outfits that came to mind (For my 4 day trip and I nearly ran out of outfits hahahahahhahaha) and was just going to wing it for the trip πŸ€ͺ

So right, my point is that whilst the view here was amazing, it wasn’t quite what I had in mind (or the photos I saw la) so I squinted and saw a platform opposite that may have the view I wanted so I quickly clutched hubby’s hands and went ‘There, there.. Get me there!!’, hubby whipped out his phone for the map and went ‘Got it’ hahahhahahaha #storyofhislife πŸ€ͺ

YASSSS got here 😬😬😬 (I honestly think hubby & I make the best travel team though he may beg to differ πŸ™ˆ)

Picked my only white #ootd for here cos I thought it would work well against the blue — I find simple joy in matching my outfits to where I go, yeah I’m superficial like that πŸ˜…

One of the highlights of my day πŸ˜»πŸ‘πŸΌ

We were following the trails of a hot spring but got lost somehow but guess who we stumbled upon? 😱

Found my alter ego you guys 🀣🀣🀣

Big head selfie of moi before we drove another hour to the town of Rotorua! 😴

Rotorua is meant to be the hot spring/geothermal town of North NZ so I even changed into my swimmers for the occasion but was disappointed to find a muddy pool with 2 bubbles hahahahahha.

So what does a disappointed Jing do?

SHOPPING hahahahahahah 🀣🀣🀣

Because it’s a small town and there wasn’t much shopping to do, I decided to do grocery shopping instead 😬

Hubby was just 🀦🏻‍β™‚οΈπŸ€¦πŸ»‍♂️ cos he naively thought by taking me out of town, then I wouldn’t shop πŸ€ͺπŸ€ͺ

elaineyp i do agree that the north island comes with its own perks of nature.. not as mind blowing as it is compared to the south but charmingly beautiful at every corner! and there’s literally a lavender farm too (on my list for my next trip!) 😍 thats the marvellous beauty of nz imo
