I'm contributing to the #dayrebeauty posts today with my Colourpop review! 😍
Was enticed to make my first purchase with Colourpop after reading @joycelynthiang's detailed review months ago! ☺️🙌🏻
Colourpop is an indie US brand whose lip colours are suuuper reasonably priced (USD5-6 each)!
There have been so many rave reviews and many have said some colours are dupes of the Kylie lip kit (!!!) so I thought to myself... Why not right! 😁
I bagged home these babies ✨ —
• Lip Primer
ULTRA MATTE LIP
I've tried all of them and really really love them all. So let me spread the love to you hehe! 💕
Let's get straight to it! 😛
For the Lippie Stix range, there are several different types of finish like Matte, Crème, Satin, Sheer and many more!
I happened to choose the Matte finish one for my only purchase in this range and it was really great!
Unlike the Ultra Matte Lip range, the Lippe Stix comes in a twist stick that makes application way easier, especially on the go! 🏃🏻💨
💄: Lip Primer
Bought their lip primer on a whim after trying MAC's one out and finding it pretty good.
Sadly, Colourpop's one isn't as moisturizing as MAC's so I would suggest you skip buying this and just get a normal lip balm 🙅🏻
Can't tell whether it helps with keeping the lip colours on for a longer time either, because ultra matte lip colours are already pretty lasting on their own 😅
💄: Lippie Stix in Brink
I really regret only buying one colour from the Lippie Stix range, because it's just so suitable for everyday wear!
It glides on like a dream and is very pigmented so the colour shows nicely when applied ☺️
Brink supposedly comes in a matte finish, but is actually still rather satin/glossy compared to the ultra matte lip range.
It is also not as long lasting as the UML colours, but it can still last through a meal pretty decently!
The colour is a beautiful coral-pink mix. (Lighter than pictured)
I didn't think I could pull it off initially, but it slowly grew on me. It's very Korean style actually 😅
My only dislike is that it transfers so easily 😭 but I guess its just a minor issue!
I didn't think I could pull it off initially, then it slowly grew on me. It's a very Korean-style colour actually 😅 it complements the fair skin of the Korean ladies very well. Hence I tried to do a more k-style make above!
My only dislike about this Lippie Stix is that the product transfers so easily 😭
Have to be extra gentle and careful not to brush my lips when I wear it 😅
Apart from that, it's a great product to own & I'm alr thinking about what other colours I should get next 😏 hehe
ULTRA MATTE LIP.
For the Ultra Matte Lip (UML) range, the colours are fast-drying, long lasting and will not transfer (unless you just had something greasy)! 👄
👏🏻 It's all totally awesome but that also means that the colour dries your lips out with time; you have to apply it very carefully to avoid having to correct the mistake which would have already dried 😪 and touching up would be kinda nasty as it would cause your lip to crack and dry even faster than the first layer 😭
Oh and I try not to use these lip colours for a whole day of wear to avoid over-drying my lips. So I'd recommend only applying them when you're about to head to an event, rather than early in the morning and leave it through the day.
That's my personal preference! 💁🏻 So if your lips react differently, feel free to do which ever suits you best ok! ☺️
Ok I think I rambled on a little TOO much 😳😅about UML so lets go into the various colours that I've got! 👇🏻
So... what I do is apply a generous layer of moisturizing lip balm 5-10 mins before, then blot it off gently with a tissue before applying the UML colour with a lip brush, then the wand applicator ✌🏻️
This way my lips would be moisturized as the base, and I'll avoid making too big a mistake by using a lip brush to finely line my lips first!
Bought Solow after @helmeowz brought my attention to it and it turned out to be a really good buy!
Colourpop says it's a neutral nude-pink, which is mostly accurate except that it turned out a little brighter than expected. More towards a toned down Barbie/Baby Pink?
Love the colour nonetheless! 😍
This would be my go-to colour in the UML range because it is just very pleasing and easy to match with any outfit! 💁🏻
Think the sweet "girl-next-door" kinda vibes! 😉
Only gripe is that it seems to dry my lips out faster than Beeper and Bumble and there are rather visible cracked lines when I don't smile.
Was looking forward to this colour the most 😍 especially after seeing how stunning the colour was on @aponytale! ✨
Bumble was said to be a dusty warm terracotta shade, which proves mostly right but the cherry red in it stood out more on my lips 💋
Not that I hate it though, it's a beautiful shade! Guess orangey-red hues suit my lips the best 😍
Immediately after applying bumble, it does show a more warm terracotta colour but after drying fully, it becomes this cherry red colour instead.
It brings all the attention to my lips and makes my teeth look exceptionally white as well. No complains about this colour; it's definitely a keeper! 💕
Colourpop says Beeper is a mid-tone taupe, but it's more like a real dark taupe for me instead 🙎🏻
Makes me doubt a lot of the online reviews based on the colour I got, and the colour they have shown. Totally worlds apart eh 🌎😂
But I'll give them the benefit of doubt and say maybe it's all about the difference in natural lip colour yeah!
Well here's mine! Natural lip colour on top, Beeper below ☺️
(Pic taken indoors, facing natural light)
I was initially freaked out 😰 by this intense darker colour, but after pairing it with the right outfits and wearing it out a few more times, I think I've come to love this different shade! ✨
Definitely channels a more sultry vibe~
I really like how the blue undertones in this colour also help enhance the whiteness in my teeth. Giving me a pearlier smile whenever I wear this colour! 😁 bonus points!
So that's it for my review on the colours I got from #Colourpop's Lippie Stix & Ultra Matte Lip range 🙆🏻
But before I go, I took photos of myself wearing each lip colour with my iPhone instead because I found that it shows the truest colour that my camera couldn't seem to represent.
So if you have a tough time deciding which colour looks best on you (Azn skin and lips lol), hopefully this would help ya! 👇🏻
All photos taken indoors, facing natural light 👻
AND.. no filters applied! To any of the above lip/selfie shots either. It's as natural as it can get haha! 😉
When you bring all the colours out so you don't have to choose 😂👆🏻
Hope this posts help whoever has been thinking of getting Colourpop! I say, go for it, it's cheap and good! 😘
Any questions just hit me up in the comments below, would be more than happy to help ya 💁🏻✨
Have a great Sunday everyone! 💋
Almost forgot about this important info haha! Here's where you purchase these lip colours:
You can ship them to Singapore using 65daigou as your forwarder :)
If you haven't used their "ship for me" function before, simply head to their site for a really easy tutorial! Or ask me anything below!
How to: Clean 💋 off easily!
For easy removal of the above lip colours (especially the UML range), I have found that oil based makeup removers work DA BEST 👍🏻✨
I'm using the Innisfree Apple Juicy makeup lip & eye makeup remover and with just two swift wipes, all the stubborn matte lip colours are gone! 😏
Don't even bother trying water based removers, else you'll be picking your lips off the floor by the time you're done 👄😂
Don't make the same mistake as me ok! Hehe
