As a florist, sometimes I find it difficult to find meaning in my work. Flowers are beautiful, and I enjoy crafting it for couples on their big day. But is it meaningful? As a former teacher, I struggle to find deeper meaning in floristry. Flowers don’t impact the lives of others, and it’s even optional whether or not we have flowers present on our big day. For occasions, it’s viewed as a lavish gift. Merely a want and never a need.
Orchids are so misunderstood. I feel that it’s purely unfortunate that we are in the tropics and they are seen as common, cheap, and in abundance. However, if used correctly, their unique airy shapes and dancing textures really add a different dimension to an otherwise boring and flat bouquet.
