Activities you can do to avoid the F1 jam this weekend!πŸ’₯

Time flew by this week and we’re one day away from the weekends again (yay for short work weeks!) With the Formula One season zooming in, we’re sure some of you are totally revved up for it!

If you’re looking to join in the fun this weekend whether or not you are going for the race itself, we hope this list will help you enjoy the F1 weekend to the most!

πŸ“’ PSA: Road blocks along Marina Centre area

As always, there will be road blocks where the F1 Grand Prix will take place. Fret not, because we can still get to places with the MRT! In response to the road closures, public transport will be extended so you don’t have to worry about not being able to get home. The last train departing from City Hall MRT station will be extended to 1.30am on Friday (16 Sept) and 1.10am on Saturday (17 Sept) and Sunday (18 Sept).

Do also remember to check the respective gates that you will be entering for the race as it could mean alighting at a different MRT station altogether!

For the rest of you who would rather stay away from all that this week, we've listed places you could visit via our good ol' MRT system instead 😊

For the laid back πŸ‘£

If you're looking to chill and slow down the pace of your life, we have two suggestions for you!

πŸš‡ PUNGGOL STATION

Instead of relaxing by the Esplanade which will be crowded with F1 race goers, why not consider going to Punggol Waterfront? A relatively new place in North East of Singapore, Punggol Waterfront boasts many attractions that are suitable for everyone, young and old. Feel free to rent a bicycle and explore places like Coney Island! While you’re there, be sure not to miss out on the ever famous Sembawang White Bee Hoon which has a new outlet right at Punggol Waterfront!

Punggol Waterfront also has many picturesque locations for your Instagram worthy shots. Here we have @jocinaaa who went down to have a photoshoot πŸ“·

πŸš‡ ONE-NORTH STATION

While the crowd mingles at F1 Grand Prix, you can take this chance to visit Timbre+! Located at 73A Ayer Rajah Crescent, Timbre+ follows Bangkok’s concept of a container shopping area. Timbre+ boasts 35 different food places so you will be spoilt for choice on what to eat. There are even live band performances for you to enjoy some drinks and catch up with friends 😁 Definitely something to consider!

Here's @brenwho's choice of food at Two Wings!

For the adventurous πŸ‘£

πŸš‡ HAW PAR VILLA STATION

If you’re the adventurous sort, you may want to push your limits and go on a scare fest at Haw Par Villa!

Did you know that Haw Par Villa was built by two brothers namely Aw Boon Haw and Aw Boon Par, which means tiger (haw) and leopard (par). It was originally named Tiger Balm Gardens.

Another interesting fact about the Aw brothers are that they are the founders of Tiger Balm! Yes, the medicated oil that we use for our minor injuries or itch.

The most famous attraction at Haw Par Villa is the Ten Courts of Hell.

See if you can identify other installations they have at Haw Par Villa this weekend!

πŸš‡ KHATIB STATION

We also recommend paying ORTO a visit in the north of Singapore at Khatib. Plus points for being easily accessible from Khatib MRT as well.

For those who are not familiar with the place, ORTO is Singapore’s first multi-recreational park that is open 24 hours a day! Perfect for those night owls looking for something to do.

The thrill seeking ones would love Katapult Trampoline Park for some adrenaline fun with you and your friends!

Of course there are other activities available at ORTO if you’re not the adventurous sort πŸ˜‰

For the travellers πŸ‘£

Take this weekend to head over to our neighbor, Johor Bahru, Malaysia for a day of food & fun! ✌🏼️ We’re sure many of you have been to Johor Bahru on a day trip before but @aggylow has a café recommendation that she deems as a MUST TRY in JB!

She raves about Replacement Café (33, Jalan Dhoby, Bandar Johor Bahru, 80000 Johor Bahru, Johor, Malaysia) because of its minimalistic cafe decor and relatively cheap pricing for brunch.

If you're looking for something more exciting to do in JB, head over to Permas Jaya Go Kart to channel your inner most Hamilton in style 😎 Here we have @sengkangbabies who had a jolly good time with his family!

Whatever you choose to do, we hope you have a great weekend!

Remember to hydrate yourself and of course to spray mosquito repellent to ward off those mozzies!

Stay tuned to Feature Friday tomorrow✌🏼️✌🏼
