Finally at the half way mark for my Korea trip update 😅 Been back for 2 months...but better late than never? Haha.
Here we go for day 6 to 8 of #amanthastravelogue in K O R E A 🙌🏻
#dayretravel #korea #seoul
Day 6: Busan > Seoul (Shopping dayyyyyyy 🤗)
Headed back to Seoul from Busan via the KTX! Pre-bought our tickets via Klook but only exchanged for the train tix when we were at the train station. This gives us a better flexibility in terms of our timing for travel 🤗
The KTX ride conveniently brought us to Seoul Station, where we changed to the internal MTR and head for our final hotel for our first leg at Hongik University Station!
📍L7 Hotels by LOTTE
141, Yanghwa-ro, Mapo-gu, Seoul, 03995 South Korea
🚊 Hongik University Station
Love how convenient this hotel is! Just a 5mins walk from Hongik Station & we are just opposite the bustling streets of Hongdae. Haha the qt mum with one of the murals outside the hotel.
Also love the modern chic concept of the hotel! It’s insta-worthy errrrrywhere 😍
Our beautiful room 😍
Haha that fluffy bed that he couldn’t resist to jump 😂
And they have a huge mirror just at the door way! Plus points indeed 💯
Headed out for lunch right after 🤗 We were starvinggggg by then! Because we travelled about 3h-ish from Busan all the way to Hongdae.
Lunch was at a recommended restaurant at the charming Yeonnam-dong!
After much exploration...we are finally here at the highly raved korean fusion cafe (cc @gillian @ccharrmaine)
Address: 385-6 Yeonnam-dong, Mapo-gu, Seoul
🚊 Hongik Univ Station
Thanks to my basic korean, we managed to find the place! 😂 We actually walked passed the cafe, but google map clearly stated we were already at the area. Turns out they do not have an English sign, haha. So do keep a lookout for this white signboard!
The quaint and cosy cafe 🤗
The momsie and the bro!
😋: Gochujang Pork Belly Linguine
Red chili pepper (gochujang) cream sauce with linguine pasta, topped with grilled pork bellyyyyy. Ain’t even a huge fan of pork but this is oh-so-good! It’s no wonder g & char raves so much about this place 🌟
😋: Doenjang cream seafood pasta with tobiko
Korean beanpaste cream linguine with assorted seafood, topped with tobiko. This was equally yummeh 💯
😋: Seafood fried rice with cheeseeeeee 👌🏻
😋: Gochujang Seafood Risotto
Our other favorite dish at Gamchil 💯 The gochujang goes so well with the cream sauce, yummehhhhh 🤗
#dayrefatties #dayrefoodies #dayrefoodie
The charming streets of Yeonnamdong 😍 Because we were there on a weekday afternoon, the shops are mostly not open. But I was told the nightlife here is pretty good 👌🏻
Caught in the act...shopping 😂 hahaha
Headed for shopping at Ewha after! he he he. Finally getting our dose of shopping for our trip 🙌🏻
📍Ewha Womans University Line 2 Station, Exit 3
When I was there in mid Sep, they were already transiting to winter wear! So the shops were already mostly selling knitted wear/long sleeves/winter wear. Only managed to score just a few summer wear at a discount 😕
Since we had our lunch pretty late, we continued our shopping at Lotte Department Store for Korean snacks! Check out our full trolley of loots 😍
Dinz was at the Lotte Mart because we shopped till a tad too late, and we were lazy to head elsewhere for our late dinz, haha.
Heh Ian doing his #boyfriendduties 😂 He trained hard at the gym to help carry our shopping loots HAHA
Luvvvvvv our hotel! Despite the higher rates, we thought it’s still pretty value for money, and it’s also our fav hotel for our trip 🤗
Checking out the fully equipped gym facilities 👌🏻
Didn’t managed to dragged my lazy bum up, but Ian managed to make it to the gym the next morning! He was dying to visit a gym for our entire trip...haha
Day 7: Seoul | Museum & Shopping Day!
The bro only criteria for our trip was to visit the war museum in Korea! So we planned for a trip to the museum on their last full day in Seoul.
📍The War Memorial of Korea, 29, Itaewon-ro, Yongsan-gu, Seoul
🚊Samgakji Station, Exit 12
The memorial hall on the way to the museum!
The museum is huge btw! They have multiple exhibition halls within the war museum - featuring the history of the different wars in Korea (all the way back to ancient Korea times).
The mom wanted a photo everywhere 😅😂 haha
The highly anticipated exhibition: the war between the two Koreas 🇰🇷🇰🇵
The day the war started.
The leaders from the north coming together for the war....
We really enjoyed this exhibition! Was there pretty timely because we also planned for a DMZ - JSA tour on our 2nd leg of our trip. Really good to know the history behind the two countries before we go for the tour.
A wefie to end our museum visit ✌🏻
Saw these little ones at the museum too, wonder if they are old enough to understand what they are taught 🤔
Lunch was at the highly-anticipated shake shack Korea! Heard much ravings from my friends when they have shake shack overseas, so we have to include this in our itinerary, heh.
📍Shake Shack Gangnam, 452 Gangnam-daero, Yeoksam 1(il)-dong, Gangnam-gu
🚊 Sinnonhyeon, Exit 5, walk straight down and you’ll spot Shack Shack on your left
With the momsie 💕
Our glorious 🍔 meal!
We each ordered a burger & added two cheese fries, milkshake & a root beer float. Guess how much was the meal?
Drumrolls pls 🥁...it was $80+! Haha, they sold everything as an ala carte, so each “set” will work out to about $20 per pax?
We ordered this chilli cheese fries thinking it’d somewhat be similar to the one at Carl’s junior? Meh, it was no where near 😂 haha. And the cheese fries...let’s just say it looks better than it tastes 😅
I’d go for KFC cheese fries or omakase burger cheese fries anytimeeeeee.
Fried chicken burger, which we thought was pretty good 😋
I got myself a portobello mushroom burger which was nubbad! A good meat alternative. And the beef burger was...just okay? Haha. Nothing much to shout about in all honesty.
The Milkshake we bought was very sinful & sweet 😅 Good old root-beer float still works better for us!
Omg, this photo very much depicts his love for vending machine...
He’d check out every single vending machines around & buy something from it 😒 If he was in Japan, I think I’d lose my boyfriend...HAHA.
This line store was conveniently located below our hotel! But we ain’t fans of line...took a photo just because we are tourists 😂
Dinner at another raved place by Gillian! Decided to conclude my bro & mum’s final night in Korea with a buddaejiggae meal 😋
📍Biya (비야) Hongdae, 5 Hongik-ro, Seogyo-dong, Mapo-gu
🚊 Hongik Univ. station, Exit 9, walk about 5 minutes.
The complimentary tater tots 😋
Army Stew at 5500W per pax!
Their last night in Korea! Happy with their army stew dinz 😋
Blur photo but don’t care 😂
We headed for a bit of last min shopping with them at hongdae before walking back to our hotel! Will definitely opt for this hotel if we return to Korea 🤗
Good morning ☀️
Their last meal in Korea calls for a Isaac Toast brekkie! The outlet at Hongdae have seats for us to have our brekkie (unlike the one in myeongdong) 👍🏻 But it was pretty packed because it’s at a tourist area.
Mummy’s final photo at the hotel before heading back!
And a final group photo before we separate ways 😂
Them to Incheon airport to head home while we explored a bit of hongdae before we headed to Gimpo airport for Jeju!
We stopped by a quaint cafe to chill & rest for a bit! And had this really good cheese cake 🍰 the cheese was really rich and yums, we love it a lot!
Also had some corndog 😋 This was in hongdae...and it’s apparently quite pops! The cheese corndog was really gooooooood!
Explored our hotel a bit and chanced upon this entertainment level where we could enjoy music over gramophone...
Play some foosball game...and also use their Mac! But we chanced upon this area a little too late as we had to leave for Jeju already 😅
Took a straight train to Gimpo Airport since we were at Hongik Univ Station! It’s a really convenient area to stay in if you’re looking to travel to the airport via train 😌 Our straight train got us to the airport in under an hour!
Our meal - good old korean cuisine - at the airport before we met our travel buds for leg 2 of our korea trip!
Oppsy, this post is getting a little too long, haha. Shall continue the rest of my Korea adventures in the next few posts 🤗
